Hi everybody, Garry here. I’m going to do something a little different this month and share a set of numbers that you won’t normally hear about. And if your upbringing was from humble roots like mine, you’re really going to appreciate these numbers. I’m talking about my cash back payments.
My wife and I did our first buy in May of 2015, and had our first sale a few days later. While I always say we were ‘hooked’ from the get-go, I’m also careful to point out that we knew our next step on this remarkable arbitrage journey had to be coaching. Fortunately for us, we found Gaye Lisby, one of the top coaches in the world.
We had no experience in the e-commerce space back then, but knew that arbitrage was going to be a good fit for us. Most of our purchases were from Wal-Mart, but we soon branched out to other major retailers like Kohl’s & Target. It didn’t take us long to discover online arbitrage, and that’s where most of our purchases come from today.
I give you all this background to help you see that our story is probably very similar to your own, and to give you hope and help in setting your goals for selling on Amazon. The sky really is the limit, and I believe that more now than I did just a few years ago.
In August 2015, having just started out a few months before, we sold $21,452 in merchandise. I give my beautiful wife a lot of the credit here, as she was the one scouring the shelves at Wal-Mart. But imagine selling that much after only 3 months! We were thrilled.
Now look at our August numbers from 2016. $77,727! When you jump into our Tribe coaching family, I discuss in great detail what led to this >300% increase in year-to-year sales, and I can assure you it wasn’t anything you can’t tackle.
Then something interesting happened in 2017. Our numbers went in the opposite direction, down to $44,091! Why the setback? I had decided to pursue private label, and since I felt comfortable with international travel, we went to China to source products.
While we were there, we met a wonderful lady that has helped our business tremendously. She helps with shipping, she works with the manufacturers there, and even inspects product before it ships to avoid problems. She’s just amazing, and like I mentioned above, these kinds of details are available to you when you join us for Tribe coaching.
Fast forward a little bit, and we’re still doing arbitrage, but our private label sales are really taking off. In August of 2019 we were up over $100K. August of 2020, just a short time into COVID, saw a huge increase up to $187,177. In just 5 short years and we were doing incredibly well. And in August 2022, we jumped to $217,078. Looking across 8 Augusts, you can see our growth, and if we can do it, you can too!
Many of us have had challenging pasts like me. As important as your past is to who you are now, it’s your outlook on the future that will determine your success. If you see a bright future, you have an exponentially higher chance of success. So as you move forward in your life and with your Amazon business remember that positive thoughts DO lead to positive outcomes.
